ANDERSON RELOCATION UPDATE
GOVERNING BOARD MEETING
FEBRUARY 1, 2024

Current Conditions

• -Generators reduced to one and relocated away from classrooms and path of travel
• -Full range of air quality testing completed with no hazardous emissions detected
• -Fire alarm repair took place all week. Final steps and testing required before fire watch ends

Distribution of Grade Levels

• -Transitional Kindergarten through 1st Grade, and 1-2 Combination class – Tremont
• -2nd through 5th Grade at Gretchen Higgins

Timeline

• -Remains February 16-20 (pending MOU reached on calendar modification

Relocation Services

• -Contract with Valley Relocation is the next agenda item
• -Boxes and labels delivered to sites
• -Cleaning services will be required. Overtime to all DUSD staff, outside company needed as well
• -Moving of furniture and materials will occur on February 16, 17
• -Site walks at Tremont and Gretchen Higgins tomorrow afternoon

Moving in and Setting Up

• -Rooms that will need to be relocated at the receiving sites have been identified
• -Rooms that will be established as new classrooms have been identified
• -The site walks at schools tomorrow will provide a final review
• -Staff will be informed of room assignments next week
• -On-site furniture and equipment will be utilized as much as is feasible
• -Staff have paid time available after the move is completed to unpack and set up their rooms

Welcoming and Community Building Activities

• -Planning is fully underway at both sites, with some coordination between them

Transportation

• -A survey was offered to all Anderson families. Responses were received for 401 of 410 students
  • -138 students need AM and PM transportation
  • -15 need AM only, 12 need PM only
  • -We have had extended discussions with a firm that provides transportation through the use of 12 and 5-seat passenger vans, our current busing company, and a third vendor
    • -The option using vans is the only one that could immediately meet our needs
    • -We are discussing costs, as the current projection would exceed $325,000 total

Assessment, Repair, Replacement

• -As made clear from the beginning of this situation, we are going to complete a full assessment of the electrical system at Anderson to determine the cause of the outage and the proper actions to repair or replace necessary portions of the system
  • -We cannot reoccupy the campus without having certainty regarding the electrical system
• -Inaccurate information spread in recent days that the cause of the problem had been determined and that a repair could be made for around $26,000. There is no truth to either part of this. No full, formal inspection has occurred, and there are no cost projections at this time.
• -We are working with North Bay Insurance Authority on a claim to receive insurance coverage for this repair or replacement. The full inspection is a requirement for any possible insurance payments, and North Bay will be identifying firms appropriate to take on the kind of services that we need.
• -North Bay provides additional support in areas such as legal services, testing, communication assistance, inspections, finances, and many others.

Servicios de Reubicación

• -El contrato con Valley Relocation es el siguiente punto de la agenda
• -Se entregaron cajas y etiquetas en los sitio
• -Se requerirán servicios de limpieza. Horas extras para todo el personal del DUSD, también se necesitará compañía externa
• -El traslado de muebles y materiales se realizará el 16 y 17 de febrero.
• -Visitas a Tremont y Gretchen Higgins mañana por la tarde

Mudanza y Configuración:

• -Se han identificado las aulas que deberán reubicarse en los sitios
• -Se han identificado las aulas que se establecerán como nuevas aulas
• -La visita a las escuelas de mañana permitirá hacer una revisión final
• -El personal será informado sobre las asignaciones de aula la próxima semana
• -Los muebles y equipos del sitio se utilizarán tanto como sea posible
• -El personal tendrá tiempo pagado después de que se complete la mudanza para desempacar y configurar sus aulas.

Actividades de Bienvenida y Desarrollo Comunitario:
