Brian Dolan

Superintendent

After completing his undergraduate and teaching credential studies at UC Davis, Brian Dolan began his career in education as a Social Science-History teacher and coach of three sports at Vacaville High School in 1988.  After eight years in Vacaville, Dolan was appointed as an assistant principal at Vanden High School in the Travis Unified School District, where he served for two years.

Dolan became the principal of Dixon High in 1998 and was privileged to lead the site for eight years.  Highlights of his time as principal include the initiation of a comprehensive literacy program, the creation of small learning communities that grew into three thematic academies, and participating in the planning and building of the new Dixon High School campus that opened in 2007.

Following his departure from Dixon High in 2006, Dolan spent five years as a Senior Director and Assistant Superintendent, overseeing Human Resources, Pupil Services, and Maintenance and Operations, and also served as an interim elementary school principal on two occasions.

Dolan assumed the position of Interim Superintendent of Schools in July 2011, and was named to the position on a permanent basis in early 2012.  Now in his eleventh year as Superintendent, and twenty-fourth in the District overall, he remains committed to the success of our students, families, and staff.
