Income Verification Survey
We know that we are repeating this information over and over, but it is critical that each of our families complete the Income Verification Survey that can be found on the front page of the District website. As explained previously, this survey is the means by which the District is funded for almost all of our additional support services – such as mental health clinicians, intervention teachers, parent liaisons, and many others.
Please take the few minutes it takes to complete the survey and help to ensure Dixon Unified is able to provide the best support possible to all of the students in the District. As of right now, we only have about 34% of our families who have responded. We need you all to help by doing the survey.

Meals
We wrote last week about the free meals that all students have access to every day. Both before and since that information, there have been a number of reports that not enough meals are prepared, and that some students cannot eat because we have run out of food.
Hearing those concerns and complaints, we did the smart thing – checked with each site to learn if they did not enough meals prepared for all of the students who wanted one. All of our sites reported that they have enough meals every day to feed all of the students who want one – whether it is breakfast/snack, or lunch. What we did learn is that sometimes the meal that a student would prefer is no longer available, but other options are. Each site has multiple meal options, as students should have a variety to choose from. Our food service staff reports that when some choices have all been taken, students will see what is left and decide not to take one of the remaining meals.
To explain this more simply, kids love pizza. We do not ever have a day when we serve only pizza. Having to choose between a pasta dish and a sandwich does not mean that we did not have enough meals. It means that not everyone was able to get their first choice. There are enough meals for everyone.

Concerns Over the Heat
Like almost everyone, we are tired of these excessive temperatures and all of the problems that they cause. We wanted to let you know that we follow guidance that is provided by the California Department of Public Health and the National Weather Service. Mental Health Referrals
We wanted to draw your attention to the link on our webpage that allows a family to make a mental health referral for any of its students. We know that a significant number of our students would benefit from some mental health support in the best of times, and that students’ needs remain higher as a result of the pandemic and all of the disruptions and challenges that came with it. Encuesta de Verificación de Ingresos

Como se explicó anteriormente, esta encuesta es el medio por el cual el Distrito recibe fondos para casi todos nuestros servicios de apoyo adicionales, como médicos de salud mental, maestros de intervención, enlaces de padres y muchos otros.

Comida
Escribimos la semana pasada sobre las comidas gratuitas a las que todos los estudiantes tienen acceso todos los días. Tanto antes como después de esa información, ha habido una serie de informes de que no se preparan suficientes comidas y que algunos estudiantes no pueden comer porque nos hemos quedado sin comida.
Al escuchar esas preocupaciones y quejas, hicimos lo inteligente: verificamos con cada sitio para saber si no tenían suficientes comidas preparadas para todos los estudiantes que querían una. Todos nuestros sitios informaron que tienen suficientes comidas todos los días para alimentar a todos los estudiantes que quieren una, ya sea desayuno/merienda o almuerzo. Lo que sí aprendimos es que a veces la comida que un estudiante preferiría ya no está disponible, pero sí hay otras opciones. Cada sitio tiene múltiples opciones de comidas, ya que los estudiantes deben tener una variedad para elegir. Nuestro personal de servicio de alimentos informa que cuando se han tomado algunas opciones, los estudiantes verán lo que queda y decidirán no tomar una de las comidas restantes.
Para explicar esto de manera más simple, a los estudiantes les encanta la pizza. Nunca tenemos un día en el que solo sirvamos pizza. Tener que elegir entre un plato de pasta y un bocadillo no significa que no hayamos comido lo suficiente. Significa que no todos pudieron obtener su primera opción. Hay suficientes comidas para todos.

Preocupaciones Sobre el Calor
Como casi todo el mundo, estamos cansados de estas temperaturas excesivas y de todos los problemas que provocan. Referencias de Salud Mental
Queríamos llamar su atención sobre el enlace en nuestra página web que permite a una familia hacer una referencia de salud mental para cualquiera de sus estudiantes. Sabemos que un número significativo de nuestros estudiantes se beneficiaría de algún apoyo de salud mental en el mejor de los casos, y que las necesidades de los estudiantes siguen siendo mayores como resultado de la pandemia y todas las interrupciones y desafíos que la acompañaron.
