Positive Cases
As we expected, we are seeing an increase in the number of confirmed cases of Covid among both our students and staff. The total number of cases among students since last week (we were testing athletes prior to the return of all students this week) is 128. The total for staff over the same time period is 18. Both of these totals are larger than what we had for each group from the start of our reporting in August up until winter vacation. We will return to our prior format of a breakdown of cases by site with next week’s update.
Preventing Spread
There is nothing new to introduce here, as all preventative measures remain the same. Masks, distancing, cleaning and disinfecting, and avoiding people and situations where transmission is more likely are still the best way to avoid infection. Practicing these at school is a must, and the more that people can follow them while away from school would be effective in keeping our case numbers as low as possible.
Illness and School Attendance
Our attendance at all school sites has dropped significantly compared to the earlier part of the school year. We want anyone who is feeling ill in any way to stay home, and if the symptoms of the illness match Covid, to stay home until they have been able to get a Covid test and receive a negative result. As always, please report any absence from school to the office, and if the reason is Covid, please say so. We are required to report all Covid cases to the Public Health Department.
Testing Opportunities
We continue to offer testing for any student or staff member free of charge every Monday and Thursday from 2:00 to 3:30 at Dixon High. You must register for the test through this link before testing: https://www.dixonusd.org/covid-19/
We are working to obtain more of the at-home rapid tests that we distributed last week and will provide information on their availability when we receive them.
Protocols for Isolation and Quarantine
The following is the information for students only:
| Positive for COVID regardless of vaccination status | -Isolate at home for 5 days if symptoms are resolving/resolved AND receive a negative test result on day 5 or later
OR Isolate at home for 10 days if unable to test |
| Fully vaccinated and exposed to someone positive for Covid | -No quarantine if asymptomatic, and test on Day 5 from exposure, and wear a well-fitting mask around others for 10 days |
| Not fully vaccinated and exposed to someone with Covid | -Modified quarantine if eligible or home quarantine if not |

Como esperábamos, estamos viendo un aumento en el número de casos confirmados de Covid entre nuestros estudiantes y personal. Prevención de la Propagación
No hay nada nuevo que mencionar aquí, ya que todas las medidas preventivas siguen siendo las mismas. Las máscaras, el distanciamiento, la limpieza y desinfección, y evitar personas y situaciones donde la transmisión es más probable siguen siendo la mejor manera de evitar la infección. Hacer esto en la escuela es imprescindible, y cuanto más las personas puedan seguirlos mientras están fuera de la escuela, sería efectivo para mantener el número de casos lo más bajo posible.
Enfermedad y Asistencia a la Escuela
Nuestra asistencia a todas las escuelas ha disminuido significativamente en comparación con la primera parte del año escolar. Queremos que cualquier persona que se sienta enferma de alguna manera se quede en casa, y si los síntomas de la enfermedad coinciden con los de Covid, que se queden en casa hasta que hayan podido hacerse una prueba de Covid y recibir un resultado negativo. Como siempre, informe cualquier ausencia de la escuela a la oficina y, si el motivo es Covid, dígalo. Estamos obligados a informar todos los casos de Covid al Departamento de Salud Pública.

Protocolos de Aislamiento y Cuarentena
