We wanted to focus on our case numbers this week, as we continue to see the surge in COVID cases around us, although there are some indications of it beginning to slow down. The number of cases among students over the first 12 days since we returned from our winter break are approximately five-and-a-half times the total number that we had from August through December. Our total for staff members is about double what we saw between August and December. We expected to see higher case rates as the Omicron variant has been identified as being more easily transmitted. The increase in the number of cases from last week to this is a cause for concern – please follow safe practices and do your part to minimize the spread of the virus.
Vaccinations and Testing
We continue to encourage families to have their children vaccinated against COVID, while also recognizing that it remains a person choice. Testing remains available every Monday and Thursday at Dixon High School between the hours of 2:00 and 3:30. You must register through the link available here to be able to test: https://www.dixonusd.org/covid-19
