Item 4: Continued Discussion of SPSA Funds

Item 5: As needed – discuss of allocation of SPSA funds

    1. Quizizz + Newsela  – Yearly cost $3565.00 + newsela
      1. Adjust goal accordingly
    2. Additional Paper Order:
      1. $50.46 per box
        1. ELA: 21 sections (includes ELD)
        2. History: 20 sections
        3. Math: 22 sections
        4. Science: 22 sections
        5. PE: 15 sections
        6. Electives: 16 sections (includes art, band, Drama, Yearbook, Soar, Makerspace, AVID)
        7. Sped: 17 sections
      2. 28 teachers x 50.46 = 1,412.88
        1. Can we justify this expenditure? 
        2. How do we determine who gets paper? Testing subjects, all departments supporting academic achievement, etc. 
        3. Does PE need paper or the same amount of paper?
        4. Bob proposed we stick with one box per teacher and teachers can go to Vicki if there is a need for more.
        5. Matt suggested 3 boxes per teacher.
  • Vicki proposed 3 boxes per core teacher and one box per elective teacher.
  1. Open Discussion
    1. Vicki sent parent square out requesting volunteers for parents to join the site team.
    2. Vicki passed out hard copies of the current site plan. Mr. Forrest recommended all council members review proposed expenditures beginning on page 32-45. 
      1. Concerns, suggestions, etc. will be brought to the next meeting for discussion.
    3. Mariana Uribe asked if we are shifting funds since PBIS T2 coordinator will not be used this year. Bob and Matt clarified we will, along with other areas.
    4. Mariana Uribe shared Mrs. Burrows would like $3,000 for ELA book club to be included in the budget.

 

  • Discussion notes from previous meeting
    1. Question brought up about technology apps paid for by JKMS site. 
      1. Quizizz-Uribe and Forrest want this to continue. Math is using it and history would like to use it. 
    2. Uribe proposed headphones be funded for use on Math and ELA lessons. 
      1. Vicki thinks we may have some somewhere and will check on it.
        1. Update: 400 headphones were ordered. Temporary cheap ones were also ordered by Scott Immel.
        2. Forrest motioned for approval on this item. Bob Bugalski seconded. Motion passed. 
    3. Mr. Bugalski shared IReady data from 2023-2023 that was shared by the superintendent at the most recent board meeting.
      1. Large number of students in yellow, we want to move them up to green.
      2. Goal is to move red students to yellow. 
      3. One of our AVID site goals ties in and supports the above. Students will be tracking their stretch goal for the purpose of reaching that goal by the end of year.
        1. Should we use funds to buy prizes to reward students as they reach their goals?
          1. Bob will check into what we can do.
      4. Update on IReady: data is in. Math department has provided students with stretch goals. ELA will be passing theirs out this week.
