Thank you Mavericks! We had another great week at JKMS!
This week we worked on structuring first lunch. We grew over the summer and have approximately 430 students at first lunch. Over the next few weeks we will continue to work on the structure of first lunch. If you have questions or concerns please call us for clarification, it’s always best to go directly to the source.
This week at JKMS we also checked to see if our Mavericks had access to a Chromebook and documented those that do not. Parents, it is essential that students take care of their devices. Several devices were lost and damaged over the summer. Please talk to your child about ensuring that they take care of their devices. It is a good idea to ask them to show you their Chromebooks from time to time. Ask them to log into Clever so you can see their i-Ready progress & PBIS Mav Bucks. Allow them to showcase their productivity by showing you what they are doing in Google Classroom and how their grades look on Aeries. While you are having what we call a “productivity chat,” look at their device. If you notice broken keys or cracked screens, remind them that it is their responsibility to take care of their device. We have reviewed these expectations with them, please help us reinforce the expectation. Breaking a Chromebook screen should be just as detrimental to them as breaking a cell phone screen.
Finally, instruction is ramping up. I was able to visit all classrooms this week, and the learning that is occurring is impressive. Teachers are using AVID Wicor strategies to deliver rigorous instruction that requires our mavericks to think outside the box. I am so impressed with the learning environment at JKMS!

Esta semana trabajamos en la estructuración del primer almuerzo. Crecimos durante el verano y tenemos aproximadamente 430 estudiantes en el primer almuerzo. Durante las próximas semanas continuaremos trabajando en la estructura del primer almuerzo. Si tiene preguntas o inquietudes, llámenos para aclaraciones, siempre es mejor ir directamente a la fuente.
Esta semana en JKMS verificamos si nuestros Mavericks tenían acceso a un Chromebook y documentamos los que no. Padres es fundamental que los alumnos cuiden sus dispositivos. Varios dispositivos se perdieron y dañaron durante el verano. Hable con su hijo para asegurarse de que cuide sus dispositivos. Es una buena idea pedirles que le muestren sus Chromebooks de vez en cuando. Pídales que inicien sesión en inteligente para que pueda ver su progreso i-ready y pbis mav bucks. Permítales mostrar su productividad al mostrarle lo que están haciendo en Google Classroom y cómo se ven sus calificaciones en Aeries. Mientras tiene lo que llamamos un “chat de productividad”, mire su dispositivo. Si nota llaves rotas o pantallas rotas, recuérdeles que es su responsabilidad cuidar su dispositivo. Hemos revisado estas expectativas con ellos, por favor ayúdenos a reforzar la expectativa. Romper la pantalla de un Chromebook debería ser tan perjudicial para ellos como romper la pantalla de un teléfono celular.
Finalmente, la instrucción está aumentando. Pude visitar todas las aulas esta semana y el aprendizaje que está ocurriendo es impresionante. Los maestros están utilizando estrategias AVID Wicor para brindar una instrucción rigurosa que requiere que nuestros inconformistas piensen fuera de la caja. ¡Estoy tan impresionado con el ambiente de aprendizaje en JKMS!
