Hello JKMS families, the last few weeks have been challenging as we have had several teachers out sick. Please continue to give us grace as we power through the critical substitute shortage we are currently experiencing. How can you help?
Please be mindful that the following policies will be strictly enforced:
POSSESSION OF CELLULAR PHONES AT John Knight Middle School
Possession of cellular phones, and other electronic devices by a student, at school, is a privilege, which may be forfeited by any student who fails to abide by the pertinent district or school rules that pertain to the possession/use of such devices. Cellular phones or other electronic devices are not to be used, heard or visible in or during class, instructional time, or at the break, or lunch. Occasionally students will have permission to use functions on their phones for class or school activities. The district/school shall not be responsible for the loss of or damage to a cellular phone brought onto campus. If students do not comply with school and district guidelines, the device may be confiscated. Violations may result in further disciplinary consequences up to and including suspension.
- 1st & 2nd Offense: Staff members will take the electronic device, record it in the confiscation log, and file it in the office. Students may claim the device from the office at the end of the day.*
- 3rd Offense: Staff member will take the electronic device, record it in the confiscation log, and file it in the office. A parent/guardian must come and claim the device from a school administrator.*
- 4th Offense: Staff member will take the electronic device, record it in the confiscation log, and file it in the office. A parent/guardian must come and claim the device from a school administrator. The student is prohibited from possessing an electronic device at school or school-related events for the remainder of the semester.*
At John Knight Middle School, our three school-wide expectations are:
Be Safe; Be Respectful; Be Productive
We are seeing an increase in disrespect particularly directed at substitutes. Because there is a critical sub-shortage, we must reinforce this expectation. Please remind your students to be kind to substitutes per our code of conduct failure to do so will result in the following disciplinary actions.

Coming Up at JKMS
Dance
JKMS Leadership is hosting a Blacklight/Neon dance on Friday, October 14 from 4 pm to 6 pm in the big gym at JKMS. Tickets can be purchased for $5 in the small gym at lunch. A signed permission slip must be turned in at the time of ticket purchase. The snack bar will be selling pizza, popcorn, chips, candy, and drinks. We welcome parent chaperones. If you would like to chaperone, please email Ms. Herd at sherd@dixonusd.org.
Student Identification Cards for entry into dance. JKMS students have access to a digital id card. If your student has not received their new id card they may use last year’s ID card or you may assist them in creating a digital ID using the link below. https://high5.id/p/9cJUx

Social Media Safety Event
John Knight Middle School has partnered with the organization for social media and DUSD to present important information to students and families regarding social media safety. Please plan to attend this event.

October is anti-bullying month
On 10/26 we will host a Bully Prevention and Student Support Workshop at JKMS Library from 6:00-7:30. Please plan to attend this important event.
October 28, 2022, is a teacher Prep Day, with no school for students.

Hola familias de JKMS, las últimas semanas han sido desafiantes ya que hemos tenido varios maestros enfermos. En la Escuela Intermedia John Knight, nuestras tres expectativas para toda la escuela son:

Estamos viendo un aumento en la falta de respeto particularmente dirigida a los sustitutos. Debido a que existe una subescasez crítica, debemos reforzar esta expectativa. Recuerde a sus estudiantes que sean amables con los sustitutos según nuestro código de conducta. Si no lo hacen, dará lugar a las siguientes medidas disciplinarias.

Próximamente en JKMS
Dance
JKMS Leadership organizará un baile Blacklight/Neon el viernes 14 de octubre de 4 pm a 6 pm en el gran gimnasio de JKMS. Los boletos se pueden comprar por $5 en el pequeño gimnasio durante el almuerzo. Se debe entregar una hoja de permiso firmada en el momento de la compra del boleto. El snack bar venderá pizza, palomitas de maíz, papas fritas, dulces y bebidas. Damos la bienvenida a los padres chaperones. Si desea ser un chaperón, envíe un correo electrónico a la Sra. Octubre es el mes contra el acoso escolar
El 26/10 tendremos un taller de apoyo estudiantil y prevención del acoso escolar en la biblioteca JKMS de 6: 00-7:30. Por favor planee asistir a este importante evento.
El 28 de octubre de 2022es un día de preparación para maestros, sin clases para los estudiantes.
