Principa’s Rampage v3.22 Supplemental

Feb 2, 2023

Dear Dixon High School Families,

Today, I took some time to address our entire Dixon High School Community as I wrap my own brain around recent events.

I want you to know that I am honored, every day,  to be the principal of DIxon High School and I want you to know that I LOVE this school, our staff, and each one of our students.

And today, I  encouraged your students to take a lead in creating change in how we interact with each other.

As I’m sure you have heard, there was an incident at John Knight Middle School yesterday that, quite simply, is the kind of bullying and racism that is never okay.  Like you, this incident makes me very angry and also very sad.  Schools should be a place where all kids and staff can be safe, engage in learning, and build healthy relationships.  All day, every day.

EVERY student and staff member has the right to be here, 100% free of any discrimination of any kind.  And, as a site leader, I want you to know that nobody in this community has the right to say, imply, or demean any other person.

All of us need to lead and create change.  One of our school’s expectations is to seek support and I have asked your students to stand with me in a pledge to always courageously address any behavior or language that demeans any other individual or group and to seek support from adults in doing so.   I believe that these kids, in this town, can make a difference and I look forward to doing this together to influence our local community for the better.

I also want you to know that I am here for you.  If you want to talk, any time, please reach out via email, by phone, or come in to chat.

Proud to be Your Principal,
Stephanie Marquez
