Principal’s RAMpage, v3.2 Back to School edition

Aug 2, 2022

Dear Dixon High School Students and Families,

Here we are, just a few days before the start of school!  Since the transition from summer to school can be a jolt to our family calendars, here are some brief things to do and consider:

Expectations and our mission
Dixon High School is committed to ensuring ALL students graduate college and career ready for their post-secondary plans.
We also hold ourselves and our community to three common expectations, which we will model and teach as school begins:

  • Be present
  • Engage fully
  • Seek Support

Communication

I will communicate regularly with students and families through email, and on our Dixon High School Facebook page.  To make this happen, I need something from you:
To do:  Make sure you are getting my emails.  This document was also sent via email on August 2, 2022. If you didn’t receive that email, please call our office staff at 707-693-6330 ASAP so we can look into this for you.
Here are some other things to keep in mind regarding communication…

  • I will send a RAMpage email every week when school begins and as needed.
  • I am always interested in hearing your thoughts and questions.  Please feel free to email me at any time and I will respond.  My email address is smarquez@dixonusd.org.
  • I will be hosting parent nights (Tuesday Talks) once a month this year.  Our first evening will be on Tuesday, August 16, at 7:00pm.  These evenings are an opportunity for you to be involved, get support, stay informed, and get your questions answered.
  • Disclaimer: There are many private Facebook groups that do NOT represent the entire school.  While these sites may be a great opportunity for networking, they do not represent the school or Associated Student Body and may post events and activities that are not available to all students.  The Dixon High School page, the Dixon Unified School District page, the DHS PTO page, and our school’s Athletics and club pages are the only ones authorized to share events and announcements to ensure they are inclusive for all students.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at any time.

Note:  If your student is having an email password issue contact the school, 707-693-6330.

Parent Involvement
If you are interested in being part of what we do on campus – especially with regard to events and opportunities for students – please join our PTO!  You can complete the google form here:  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1MdhU0KSWJZimxe_qd8c1Hz5N5j0hMdYupJ_NEIZFShE/edit?usp=sharing.  Thank you so much to those of you who already signed up!  I will be reaching out to interested parents soon.
