COVID News

We have continued to see increased cases numbers compared to last month and earlier. Students are certainly spending more time together in a variety of settings, and the same is true for our staff members. Public Health continues to strongly recommend masks for everyone. We still have a large supply available at every campus.

State and District Budget News

The Governor presented his revised budget proposal for the fiscal year that begins on July 1st at a press conference last Friday. The State Legislature will be working with him over the next month to finalize the details, which will ultimately be the basis for the budget that the District will be implementing next year.

The District continually works on identifying, adjusting, and implementing its budget priorities. This process includes the development of our Local Control Accountability Plan or LCAP, for which a survey has been available on our website for some time now. Agenda items at governing Board Meetings are also a typical setting where District priorities are discussed and established. Other less formal processes, including the ongoing work of the administrative staff are part of establishing what is most important to us on a yearly basis, as well as long-term.

Priorities that have been established for us moving forward include:

• Improving compensation for our employees.
• Continuing efforts to address the impacts of the pandemic and the negative consequences that it created for students and staff. The primary area of focus is to help restore academic skills and other learning.
• Further implementing AVID across the District and pursuing full certification for all of our sites.
• Continuing to expand our mental health and social emotional programs and support for students.
• Open a Two-way Bilingual Immersion Program at Gretchen Higgins Elementary School.
• Maintain the fiscal health of the District.
  As proposed so far, the budget is one of the best for education that we have seen in the history of the State, and may end up being the very best one. This will allow the District to better address all of these priorities, as well the many others that exist.

Summer School Programs

Spaces remain for students in our academic programs that will be offered this summer. The District is offering a variety of summer programs for students from elementary through high school levels. Employee Recognition

We are celebrating a wide range of employees of the District today, as we do at the end of every school year. Samantha Camblin, an English and ELD teacher at Dixon High is our teacher of the year. Arturo Hernandez, who is a custodian at multiple sites is the classified employee of the year. We will be recognizing a total of 11 retires from both the certificated and classified ranks. We also celebrate the hiring anniversaries of employees starting at ten years and increasing by five-year increments. We are recognizing one employee who has been with the District for a total of 40 years! We also want to acknowledge all of the wonderful people working for Dixon Unified on behalf of our students and families, as well as other staff members. We have a great team of employees who deserve our gratitude.

Noticias Sobre el Presupuesto Estatal y del Distrito

El Distrito trabaja continuamente para identificar, ajustar e implementar sus prioridades presupuestarias. Este proceso incluye el desarrollo de nuestro Plan de Responsabilidad de Control Local o LCAP, para el cual una encuesta ha estado disponible en nuestro sitio web desde hace algún tiempo. Los temas de la agenda en las reuniones de la Mesa Directiva también son un escenario típico donde se discuten y establecen las prioridades del Distrito. Otros procesos menos formales, incluido el trabajo continuo del personal administrativo, son parte del establecimiento de lo que es más importante para nosotros en forma anual, así como a largo plazo.

Las prioridades que se han establecido para que avancemos incluyen:

• Mejorar la compensación de nuestros empleados.

  Tal como se ha propuesto hasta ahora, el presupuesto es uno de los mejores para la educación que hemos visto en la historia del Estado, y puede terminar siendo el mejor. Esto permitirá que el Distrito aborde mejor todas estas prioridades, así como muchas otras que existen.

Reconocimiento de Empleados

Estamos celebrando una amplia gama de empleados del Distrito hoy como lo hacemos al final de cada año escolar. Samantha Camblin, maestra de inglés y ELD en Dixon High es nuestra maestra del año. Arturo Hernández, quien es conserje en varios sitios, es el empleado clasificado del año. Estaremos reconociendo un total de 11 empleados que se jubilarán de los rangos certificados y clasificados. También celebramos los aniversarios de contratación de empleados a partir de los diez años y aumentando en incrementos de cinco años. ¡Estamos reconociendo a un empleado que ha estado con el Distrito por un total de 40 años!
