Parent Update 4-15-2022<\/b><\/p>\n

This week at JKMS!<\/b><\/p>\n

This week at JK, we reminded students about the importance of respecting one another at school and within the community.\u00a0 We reminded them of our policies, procedures, and school-wide expectation that all students are safe, respectful, and productive.\u00a0 We reminded them that at JK if we see something, we say something!\u00a0 We take a stand and lend a hand!\u00a0 That’s the JK way!\u00a0 <\/span>Click here <\/span><\/a>to review the information that was discussed at Monday Morning Meet-Up and distributed to students this week.\u00a0 Additionally, we are postponing our JKMS anti-bullying workshop.\u00a0 Instead, the district will host a town hall meeting to address bullying as a district.\u00a0 The meeting will be held at JKMS on Wednesday at 6:00 pm.\u00a0 We look forward to seeing you there.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This week at JK, forty of our EOAP students attended a field trip to UC Davis!\u00a0 Several of our students expressed interest in one day attending UC Davis!\u00a0 This was the first field trip our students have attended since the pandemic!\u00a0 Students were able to witness college life in action and were able to speak to college students about their future college and career goals.\u00a0 We look forward to engaging JKMS students in more opportunities to visit local colleges and universities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Testing<\/b><\/p>\n

The week of April 25 and the week of May 9 we will be taking the CAASPP Test.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

PE Dressing Policy<\/b><\/p>\n

Dear Parent \/ Guardian:<\/span><\/p>\n

We are excited about finishing up this school year.\u00a0 As we close in on our first year and look forward to beginning a new school year next Fall, the JKMS Physical Education staff asks for your help and cooperation in order to make it successful.<\/span><\/p>\n

As you know, physical education classes are \u201cactivity\u201d classes that require \u201cactivity clothing\u201d.\u00a0 Physical education classes meet daily; therefore, your student will be expected to dress for class in their activity clothes each day.\u00a0 Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing would include the following:\u00a0 a tee-shirt, shorts, and appropriate footwear (non-marking tennis shoes with laces).\u00a0 During the colder weather depending on outside temperatures, a pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt might also be appropriate.\u00a0 We do not have a uniform available at this time, so clothing can be whatever you may have at home for the remainder of the 2022 school year.\u00a0 Next year, we will have a PE uniform available (not required) for purchase.\u00a0 Under NO circumstances will a student be allowed to wear clothing bearing drugs, alcohol, tobacco, profanity, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

A large portion of your student\u2019s grades is based on their active participation in class.\u00a0 If for some reason your child cannot participate because of an injury or illness, we ask that you please send a short note indicating how long they are to be excused.\u00a0 If it is for more than three days, we request a physician\u2019s note.\u00a0 This allows us to plan alternative activities accordingly to meet the participation requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n

To reduce the incidence of theft of valuables, clothing, etc. from your child\u2019s physical education class, we have lockers available for use.\u00a0 However, our \u201cold\u201d CAJ locks do not fit the new JKMS lockers, so if they wish to use a locker, they will need to bring their own lock this year.\u00a0 If a student wishes to keep their clothing in their backpacks, that is fine as well.\u00a0 We plan to have appropriate locks for next year.\u00a0 All students are welcome to use the locker rooms, regardless of whether or not they are using a locker.\u00a0 Please do not leave items in a locker unlocked.<\/span><\/p>\n

8th grade trip to Six Flags<\/b><\/p>\n

Hello John Knight Families,<\/span><\/p>\n

We are happy to announce that we are able to reinstate the 8th-grade end-of-year trip to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo. It will take place on Friday, May 27th from 8:30 am to 6:00pm. The cost is $48 per student or $18 for season pass holders. This includes bus transportation and a catered lunch by Six Flags.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tickets can be purchased at the office during lunch on April 11th – May 13th (Mon, Wed, Fri only). We will accept cash or checks only.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

No tickets will be sold after May 13th.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
