Parent Teacher Conferences<\/b><\/h3>\n

We will be hosting parent-teacher conferences for our students who are struggling academically and or behaviorally.\u00a0 If your student has less than a 2.0 GPA,\u00a0 is having attendance issues, or experiencing difficulty adhering to our school-wide expectations, you may be invited to attend a parent-teacher conference.\u00a0 Please check your emails to see if your child’s teachers are requesting a conference with you.\u00a0 If you have not been contacted for a parent conference and wish to have one scheduled please reach out to your child’s teacher to discuss scheduling options.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Disrespect on Instagram\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Parents, although social media has its perks, at the middle school level, social media is known to cause what we lovingly call \u201cmiddle school drama\u201d Instagram has become a breeding ground for cyberbullying at JKMS.\u00a0 I have spent hours online reporting JKMS sites only to receive responses from Instagram telling me they refuse to remove the sites and or posts.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How you can help!<\/b><\/h4>\n

Report<\/b> with me!\u00a0 Search for these sites.\u00a0 What I\u2019ve found is that 9 out of 10 times the public sites are harmless, the private sites become a breeding ground for undercover bullying.\u00a0 If you see something, say something and report it!\u00a0 I believe that if JKMS parents flood Instagram with reports, they will have no choice but to remove these pages and posts that are harmful to the social and emotional development of Dixons students.\u00a0 Parents, please know that these posts don\u2019t represent the majority of our mavericks who consistently adhere to our school-wide expectations that JKMS mavericks are Safe, Respectful and Productive.<\/span><\/p>\n

Check-Up<\/b>–Check your child\u2019s social media if they don\u2019t want you to see it, you probably should be monitoring it!<\/span><\/p>\n

Teach your child <\/b>how to report cyberbullying and remind them to \u201cblock their haters\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, <\/b>support our no cell phones out during common spaces policy!<\/span><\/p>\n

Upcoming Event<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This year the JKMS Band is performing its Spring Concert in the theater at Dixon High School on the evening of Wednesday, March 16th, 2022. It is going to be an indoor concert in collaboration with the Dixon High School Band. This event is free admission.\u00a0 Band members will need to be present at 6 pm to help set up. The show will start at 7 pm.\u00a0 The band should be dressed in concert black. That means a black shirt, black pants, and black shoes. If black isn\u2019t an option then please try to find colors that are as dark as possible.\u00a0 Looking forward to seeing you there!<\/span><\/p>\n

Conferencias de padres<\/b><\/h3>\n

Estaremos organizando conferencias de padres y maestros para nuestros estudiantes que tienen dificultades acad\u00e9micas o de comportamiento. Si su estudiante tiene un GPA inferior a 2.0, tiene problemas de asistencia o tiene dificultades para cumplir con las expectativas de toda la escuela, es posible que lo inviten a asistir a una conferencia de padres y maestros. Revise sus correos electr\u00f3nicos para ver si los maestros de su hijo solicitan una conferencia con usted. Falta de respeto en Instagram\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n

Padres, aunque las redes sociales tienen sus ventajas en el nivel de secundaria, se sabe que las redes sociales causan lo que cari\u00f1osamente llamamos “drama de secundaria”. Instagram se ha convertido en un caldo de cultivo para el ciberacoso en JKMS. He pasado horas en l\u00ednea informando sobre sitios JKMS solo para recibir respuestas de Instagram que me dicen que se niegan a eliminar los sitios o las publicaciones.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a1C\u00f3mo puedes ayudar!<\/b><\/h4>\n

Informe<\/b> conmigo! Busque estos sitios. Lo que encontr\u00e9 es que 9 de cada 10 veces que los sitios p\u00fablicos son inofensivos, los sitios privados se convierten en un caldo de cultivo para el acoso encubierto. \u00a1Si ves algo, dilo y rep\u00f3rtalo! Creo que si los padres de JKMS inundan Instagram con informes, no tendr\u00e1n m\u00e1s remedio que eliminar estas p\u00e1ginas y publicaciones que son perjudiciales para el desarrollo social y emocional de los estudiantes de Dixons. Padres, tengan en cuenta que estas publicaciones no representan a la mayor\u00eda de nuestros inconformistas que se adhieren constantemente a nuestras expectativas escolares de que los inconformistas de JKMS son seguros, respetuosos y productivos.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chequeo <\/b>Revise las redes sociales de su hijo si no quiere que lo vea, \u00a1probablemente deber\u00eda monitorearlo!<\/span><\/p>\n

Ens\u00e9\u00f1ele <\/b>a su hijo c\u00f3mo denunciar el acoso cibern\u00e9tico y recu\u00e9rdele que “bloquee a sus enemigos”<\/span><\/p>\n

Finalmente, <\/b>apoye nuestra pol\u00edtica de no usar tel\u00e9fonos celulares durante los espacios comunes!<\/span><\/p>\n

Upcoming Event<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Este a\u00f1o, la JKMS Band realizar\u00e1 su Concierto de primavera en el teatro de Dixon High School la noche del mi\u00e9rcoles 16 de marzo de 2022. Ser\u00e1 un concierto bajo techo en colaboraci\u00f3n con Dixon High School Band. Este evento es de entrada libre. Los miembros de la banda deber\u00e1n estar presentes a las 6:00 p. m. para ayudar con la preparaci\u00f3n. El espect\u00e1culo comenzar\u00e1 a las 7 pm. La banda debe vestirse de negro de concierto. Eso significa una camisa negra, pantalones negros y zapatos negros.
