Parents this week one of our Mavericks fell off of his bike while riding to school and suffered injury.\u00a0 We don’t want any of our mavericks getting hurt.\u00a0 Please be sure to remind your bike rider to wear a helmet when riding their bicycle, scooter, or skateboard to school.\u00a0 If you are under the age of 18, it is required by law that you wear a helmet.\u00a0 If you need assistance helping your child obtain a helmet please don’t hesitate to contact me directly, I am here to support.\u00a0 Together we can, whatever it takes, no excuses!<\/p>\n

Thursday February 17, John Knight Middle School will participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP).\u00a0 NAEP is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students know and can do in various subjects. NAEP is different from our state assessments because it is a common measure of achievement across the country. The assessment is administered by the National Center for Education Statistics, within the U.S. Department of Education. The results are released as The Nation\u2019s Report Card, which provides information about student achievement to educators, parents, policymakers, and the public.<\/p>\n
Your child may take a mathematics or reading assessment. In addition to subject-area questions, students voluntarily complete NAEP survey questions. These questions provide valuable information about participating students\u2019 educational experiences and opportunities to learn both in and outside of the classroom. More information about NAEP survey questions is available at https:\/\/nces.ed.gov\/nationsreportcard\/parents under the section \u201cWhat Questions Are on the Test?\u201d<\/p>\n
The assessment takes approximately 2 hours for most students, which includes transition time, directions, and completion of survey questions.<\/p>\n
The information collected is used for statistical purposes only.
\n\u2022 Your child\u2019s grades will not be affected.
\n\u2022 Students may be excused for any reason, are not required to complete the assessment, and may skip any question.
\n\u2022 While the assessment is voluntary, NAEP depends on student participation to help policymakers improve education. However, if you do not want your child to participate, please notify me in writing by 02\/16\/2022.<\/p>\n
There is no need to study in preparation for NAEP, but please encourage your child to do their best. A brochure that explains what participation in NAEP means for you and your child is available at http:\/\/nces.ed.gov\/nationsreportcard\/pdf\/parents\/2012469.pdf. Por favor, aseg\u00farese de recordarle a su ciclista que use un casco cuando ande en bicicleta o patineta a la escuela. Si es menor de 18 a\u00f1os, la ley exige que use casco. \nEl lunes 14 de febrero es el D\u00eda de San Valent\u00edn y el D\u00cdA de Vestirse para Impresionar\u00a0 \u00a1Recu\u00e9rdele a su Maverick que se vista para impresionar este D\u00eda de San Valent\u00edn!<\/p>\n
El jueves 17 de febrero, la escuela secundaria John Knight participar\u00e1 en la Evaluaci\u00f3n Nacional del Progreso Educativo (NAEP). NAEP es la evaluaci\u00f3n continua y representativa a nivel nacional m\u00e1s grande de lo que los estudiantes saben y pueden hacer en diversas materias. NAEP es diferente de nuestras evaluaciones estatales porque es una medida com\u00fan de logro en todo el pa\u00eds. La evaluaci\u00f3n es administrada por el Centro Nacional de Estad\u00edsticas Educativas, dentro del Departamento de Educaci\u00f3n de los Estados Unidos. Los resultados se publican como el Bolet\u00edn de calificaciones de la naci\u00f3n, que proporciona informaci\u00f3n sobre los logros de los estudiantes a educadores, padres, legisladores y el p\u00fablico.<\/p>\n
