As we move well into the fall, I thought it might be a good time to do a quick checklist of sorts.\u00a0 I know you are all super busy so here are some opportunities for families and\/or students.<\/span><\/p>\n
Things to Do, Consider, or Plan<\/b><\/p>\n

- I highly recommend <\/span>parents<\/b> install the Parent Square app on their phones.\u00a0 That is the best way to get information from school.<\/span><\/li>\n
- The very best way for <\/span>parents<\/b> to support <\/span>students <\/b>is to check their planner, binder, and help them organize their backpack every single night.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

- When you find a moment, <\/span>parents<\/b> should check in with <\/span>students<\/b> about opportunities to get involved on campus.\u00a0 We have many clubs, activities, and events to build a positive culture.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- The <\/span>Learning Cente<\/b>r is open every morning and every afternoon at DHS.\u00a0 It is a great opportunity for <\/span>students <\/b>to get their homework done, before they transition between school and home.\u00a0 Please encourage them to give it a try.<\/span><\/li>\n
- If you have a <\/span>10th or 11th grader<\/b> that wants to sit for the PSAT, they need to reach-out to their counselors.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- It is time to start thinking about ordering your copy of the 2024-25 Dixon High School Yearbook.\u00a0 Please reach-out to Dixon High School with any questions.<\/span><\/li>\n
- Senior parents<\/b>:\u00a0 Please check in with your seniors about college applications!\u00a0 Our counselors are available to help as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- Senior parents<\/b>:\u00a0 Remember, recent legislation requires every senior to complete the FAFSA as a graduation requirement.\u00a0 All seniors need to do this.\u00a0 Before I start REALLY reminding you about this requirement, just a heads up that the FAFSA will be available in December.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- Please remind your <\/span>student<\/b> to get a Homecoming Dance ticket.\u00a0 Tickets are sold at the Spirit window during lunch.\u00a0 Also, here are some things to know about the dance:<\/span>\n

- The dance begins at 8:00 and nobody will be allowed to enter after 8:45.<\/span><\/li>\n
- The dance ends at 11:00 pm. If you are picking up your student, please be at school a few minutes before 11:00.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
