{"id":1017,"date":"2022-11-08T13:18:46","date_gmt":"2022-11-08T21:18:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dixonusd.org\/dhs\/?p=1017"},"modified":"2023-09-01T12:55:56","modified_gmt":"2023-09-01T19:55:56","slug":"principals-rampage-v3-14","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dixonusd.org\/dhs\/principals-rampage-v3-14\/","title":{"rendered":"Principal&#8217;s RAMpage v3.14"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dear Dixon High School Families,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We are cruising through our fall semester.\u00a0 12 week grades were mailed home on Saturday, 11\/8 so you should have received your student\u2019s report card yesterday (or possibly today).<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please remember our three common expectations (for all of us) as we move through the year.<\/span><br \/>\n<b>Engage <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8211; participate actively and fully in learning<\/span><br \/>\n<b>Seek Support<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#8211; let adults know if and when you need support<\/span><br \/>\n<b>Be Present<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#8211; focus on what you are doing, when you are doing it<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I want to take a moment to focus on the idea of \u201cSeeking Support.\u201d\u00a0 This is HUGE for us as we support all of our kids.\u00a0 We will be doing some activities in the next few weeks to support students in communicating their needs and the needs of their peers.\u00a0 Please stay tuned.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is also important that families seek support when you have questions, concerns, or need help with your student or a student you know.\u00a0 You are encouraged to attend our events and welcome to reach out via email any time.\u00a0 I will happily answer your questions or refer you to someone that can help.\u00a0 <\/span><a href=\"mailto:smarquez@dixonusd.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">smarquez@dixonusd.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0 We all need to work together to support our kids.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Parent Information Opportunities<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please join our DHS PTO this evening in the Theater<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0 They are meeting at 7:00pm.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Senior parents are invited to join us for our FAFSA workshop Wednesday (tomorrow) to get help with creating a FAFSA login.\u00a0 Remember, to complete the FAFSA at a later date, you will have to have your login ready to go.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please check out our web page at dixonusd.org.\u00a0 For example, If you want to know if it is a single or double week you can find that information here: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dixonusd.org\/dhs\/\"><b>https:\/\/www.dixonusd.org\/dhs\/<\/b><\/a><b>\u00a0 scroll down to the calendar.\u00a0 If you click on \u201csingle\/double day\u201d in the calendar the bell schedule will pop up.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Indoor Field Show<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Want to do something fun?\u00a0 Come enjoy the DHS Band\u2019s Indoor Field Show performance on Thursday evening (at 7:00) in the theater.\u00a0 Be warned!\u00a0 This show is VERY FAST and VERY AWESOME!\u00a0 If you come late, you will miss it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Fall Sport Playoffs<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All of our teams are away this week as they continue to win, win, win! \u00a0 This week, our Water Polo teams play today (girls at River City) and Thursday (boys at Ripon) and our football team plays Friday night at Liberty Ranch. Tickets are available on GoFan (gofan.com).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Notes From Our Office<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is very important that students attend school every period, every day! \u00a0 That said, we know your student may need to miss.\u00a0 When they are out, please remember to communicate with us and bring in those doctor and dentist notes. \u00a0 We are happy to work with you but if we don\u2019t hear from you, we can\u2019t excuse your student\u2019s absence.\u00a0 We know our phones are often busy so please feel free to leave a message or email Jennifer Parks directly at <\/span><a href=\"mailto:jennifer.parks@dixonusd.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">jennifer.parks@dixonusd.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Final exams<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> are an important part of high school academics.\u00a0 Students are required to sit for exams.\u00a0 We do not offer early finals and, if students are going to miss school during finals week, they need to get approval from their Assistant Principal.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If your student\u2019s grades are not what they should be, please consider that we have a Learning Center, with tutors, in the library every \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Our counseling office is hosting College Wednesdays at lunch in the College and Career Center.\u00a0 All students are welcome to stop in and get their college and career questions answered.\u00a0 This is a great opportunity for our seniors to get help with finalizing applications, completing the FAFSA, making career decisions, etc.\u00a0 It is also a fantastic
