\u00a0 That said, we know your student may need to miss.\u00a0 When they are out, please remember to communicate with us and bring in those doctor and dentist notes. \u00a0 We are happy to work with you but if we don\u2019t hear from you, we can\u2019t excuse your student\u2019s absence.\u00a0 We know our phones are often busy so please feel free to leave a message or email Jennifer Parks directly at jennifer.parks@dixonusd.org.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We still have too many tardies AND tomorrow is a Double Wednesday &#8211; the worst day EVER for tardies!\u00a0 Please, if your student has a bunch of tardies, especially in their first period of the day, help them realize that they <\/span><b>need to leave earlier.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">12 week grades should be mailed by the end of this week so look for those over the weekend or early next week.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>College Advising on Wednesdays for All Students<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Our counseling office is hosting College Wednesdays at lunch in the College and Career Center.\u00a0 All students are welcome to stop in and get their college and career questions answered.\u00a0 This is a great opportunity for our seniors to get help with finalizing applications, completing the FAFSA, making career decisions, etc.\u00a0 It is also a fantastic opportunity for our younger students who are exploring post-secondary opportunities.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Resources for Students and Families<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Our teachers are working very hard to meet your students\u2019 needs in class and out.\u00a0 But, there are many ways to help your student if they are struggling.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0We expect every student to use a common binder system AND complete their planner every hour, every day, at Dixon High School.\u00a0 Please take a look at both of these resources every evening to make sure your student is taking advantage of these tools that are used to help students stay focused and organized.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When you look at the planner, take a look to see how often your student is out of class.\u00a0 If they aren\u2019t in class, they can\u2019t learn.\u00a0 Teachers will be initialing the planner when students leave class each period.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Encourage your student to go to the Learning Center in the library.\u00a0 They have tutoring and support every morning and afternoon.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Reach out to staff if you need any suggestions or help.\u00a0 We REALLY want every student to be successful.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Seniors Only<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This year, <\/span><b>every senior family<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is expected to complete the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/help\/fafsa\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">FAFSA<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, a financial document for all post-secondary institutions.\u00a0 If you would like some help our counseling office is hosting a <\/span><b>Workshop on Thursday, November 17, 2022 beginning at 5:30pm.\u00a0 We can help you with this!! <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0To participate in the workshop, parents will need to have a FAFSA log in already in place. <\/span><b>\u00a0Please join us on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 5:30-6:30 if you need any help.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>School Pictures<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For senior portraits, students should go to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/prestigeportraits.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">prestigeportraits.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and enter their appointment code (sent to homes on a postcard or via email from Prestige Portraits) to find their appointment time. \u00a0 All seniors need to take a senior portrait with Prestige for the yearbook.
