Dear Dixon High School Families,

I hope you all had a fantastic spring break with your families.  On campus, we are REALLY enjoying our positive relationships with students and an activity filled spring.  Here are some things coming up:

CAASPP and CAST Testing are coming up!

CA Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)

CA Science Test (CAST)

State testing is April 18-22 for our juniors and seniors.  These exams are important because they give a snapshot of how we are doing as a community.  These results help us find out where our strengths and weaknesses are as a site.  Mr. Bugalski will be sending the testing schedule information to all students and families.  Here is what that means for you and your student:

  • 9th and 10th graders do not test.

They will have a late start most of the week and do not come to school until their 0 or 1st period Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.

    • 11th graders begin testing at 7:45 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and then follow the modified schedule for their regular classes.
      • CAASPP testing for 11th graders is super important as results may determine English and Math placements for ALL majors as college freshmen.
    • 12th graders will come early one morning to take their exam and then follow the modified schedule for all other days:
      • Last name A-F tests Monday morning
      • Last name G-L tests Tuesday morning
      • Last name M-R tests Thursday morning
      • Last name S-Z tests Friday morning
    • Seniors will have a senior meeting during their test period. They will receive important information regarding senior contracts, graduation, and a chance to pick up their cap and gown, if preordered.  If your senior has not ordered a cap and gown, they can still do so through the Josten’s website:  Dixon High School | Jostens
  • Wednesday is a regular SHORT WEDNESDAY for everybody.
  • REMINDER: Tests can only be taken on school-issued chromebooks!!!

Your student MUST come prepared with a fully charged device every day and bring headphones if they have them.

Prom is Coming

We are SO EXCITED about prom!  Students will be receiving their bids and additional info about the evening shortly.  I want to thank all of the very generous parents who worked with our PTO to decorate this event…it is above and beyond anything that we have had before!  Special thanks to Jezabel Corona, Norma Holtmeyer, Audrey Madden, Lisa Altmiller and Heidi Johnson who have worked with our Leadership students to plan all of the details.  It really should be a night to remember. As you have probably heard, we have sold out for prom but our Leadership class is planning another dance before the end of the year so all kids can get their groove on and spend some fun time together.

8th Grade Check-In

We can’t wait to meet our new freshmen and their families soon! Please take a look at the 2022-2023 Course Catalog.pdf.  This document not only summarizes our courses but also provides information about graduation requirements and the UC/CSU required courses, known as the A-G requirements.  When your student goes to high school, grades really matter!  Please encourage your 8th grader to practice skills necessary for high school including engaging in lessons, seeking support when needed, completing ALL assignments, and focusing on their academics.
