Dear Dixon High School Families,
Hello everyone! We are enjoying a fantastic spring with your awesome kids! Here are some updates for you…
We will not be having Tuesday Talks this spring as we have SO MANY other evening events. That said, I am committed to making sure I am accessible and open to your questions. Please email me (or call) any time and I will get right back to you.
State testing (CAASP and CAST) are coming up for our juniors and seniors. These exams are extremely important in that they give us a snapshot of how we are doing as a community. Mr. Bugalski will be sending the testing schedule information to all students and families. We will have a specialized schedule the week of April 18-22 so students can focus and be supported in this important work.
Please take the district’s LCAP survey! As high school parents, you are the experts in what our district should and should not be doing. I value your voice!! LCAP Survey
Scheduling for Next Year
Now that we have our course requests in, we will start building our master schedule for fall. Please know that your student will not receive their fall schedule until August. In the meantime, our counselors will be reaching out to your student if there are any questions or concerns about their particular schedule.
Prom is Coming
Prom is on! In fact, we sold out of prom tickets when we reached venue capacity. Today, I will be reaching out to our waiting list students so please encourage them to check their email tonight. We are super excited an
d thankful for the opportunity to celebrate with this dance. The kids have secured an awesome venue, with appetizers, beverages and a DJ. Our PTO group is organizing decorations above and beyond what we usually do. If you are interested in contributing to the decorating, just email Lisa Altmiller at email@example.com.
Instructional Shifts and Make Up Work
Our teachers are excited to revisit instructional models that provide more opportunities for creativity and collaboration in their classrooms. While teachers are well-versed in google classroom, you can probably expect other types of work. What does this mean for you and your student? It means we need to make sure students are using their planners and that they get ALL makeup work from their teachers if they miss. We will no longer be dependent on just google classroom for make up work.
8th Grader Check-In
We can’t wait to meet our new freshmen and their families soon! In the meantime, please take a look at the Course Catalog at 2022-2023 Course Catalog.pdf. This document not only summarizes our courses but also provides information about graduation requirements and a-g requirements. When your student goes to high school, grades really matter! Please also encourage your 8th grader to practice good skills necessary for high school including engaging in lessons, seeking support when needed, completing ALL assignments, and focusing on their academics.
We are planning EVEN MORE awesome activities for our seniors as we prepare to send them off at graduation on June 4! Later this week, I will be sending an email out to seniors and their parents with a calendar just for them. We can’t wait! In the meantime, please know that graduation will be in our stadium, the morning of Saturday, June 4, where we can all come together to celebrate the class of 2022. Seniors will pick up pre-ordered caps and gowns, the week of April 18-22, when we meet with them during CAST testing.
